Spring 2025 Classes
Please note: BHLC is not a drop-off program. All families will be required to remain on-site and complete a volunteer job, which typically involves assisting in a class.
For Spring Semester, BHLC will offer a ten-week session of in-person classes at a Lexington park on Mondays.
The dates for the 10-week in-person classes are as follows:
3/17, 3/24, 3/31, 4/7
4/14, 4/21, 4/28, 5/5
5/12, 5/19
A note on Covid-19 precautions
Two of BHLC's core values are inclusivity and compassion. As such, we strive to create an environment that meets the needs of our students and volunteer teachers. While the official public health emergency provisions surrounding COVID-19 have ended, COVID remains an ongoing health risk that impacts the participation of some families. For this reason, BHLC has decided to continue two-way masking in classes and at the sign-in pavilion. Unless otherwise indicated, masking will be optional at other times, including after classes, on the playground, at events, in clubs, and on field trips.

11:00am-12:00pm
K-3: My Place in Space, taught by Sarah F. and Crystal G. {$35}
We will be exploring the various systems in and around our world, from those of our bodies, our planet, the solar system, and beyond. We will be exploring places great and small. Come explore with us through activities and related crafts.
4th-6th: Faulty Planet, taught by Maria G. and Nora K. {$35}
We live on a dynamic and ever changing planet filled with both beauty and hazards. This semester we’ll be diving into natural disasters that occur on the spinning, tilted third rock from the sun. Why does hail form? How are volcanoes and earthquakes related? What are the varied ways in which water affects the earth? Do wildfires have any benefits? Should I really be worried about quicksand? As we study geologic, atmospheric, hydrologic, and biologic events we’ll learn why they happen and how humans can cope with them.
7th-12th: Fish Tales: A Play in One Act, taught by Amanda C. {$35}
This spring, we’re heading under the sea with Fish as they swim to the Magical Land of Zo in search of their lost imagination.
Over the course of 10 weeks, we will stage and rehearse this charming play during regular class time. Additionally, we will work together to create simple costumes and props to enhance the production. Our performance will be after the 2nd hour on the last day of class—May 19, 2025—so please plan to attend that day if you wish to be in the play.
To allow us the most rehearsal time, I will be hosting virtual auditions beginning March 10. Any student who registers by March 13 will have the opportunity to audition virtually. Please check the email you provide during registration for more information on the audition process.
12:30pm-1:30pm
K-3rd: Game Schooling and Supervised Play, taught by Sarah F. and Crystal G. {$35}
Students will have a weekly selection of competitive and cooperative games to choose from and play with our classmates and friends, as well as opportunities for field trips to the playground with supervised play. Pick up and drop off will be at the shelter.
4th-6th Nature Detectives, taught by Hannah H. {$35}
Who left that track? Who bent that twig? What on earth happened here??? The natural world is full of interesting questions, mysteries, and occasionally even a bit of murder and mayhem.
This semester, Nature Detectives are on the case! In this class we will hone our powers of observation and deduction, learn how to recognize patterns, track and trail, interview wildlife witnesses, and spot the clues that are left behind. There is always a lot more going on than meets the eye, and we will leave no stone unturned in our search for the truth (and possibly salamanders).
7th-12th: Reimagined Creations: Junk Journaling Workshop, taught by Melissa W. and Brandi F. {$35}
Unleash your creativity in this eco-friendly junk journaling and craft tinkering class! By reusing and repurposing second-hand craft supplies, blank journals, and basic tools like glue and scissors, students will transform discarded materials into unique, personalized creations.
This class celebrates sustainability, encouraging students to think creatively about recycling, while designing one-of-a-kind journals and crafts.
Let’s craft the perfect space to explore art, self-expression, and the feel-good fun of turning trash into treasure!
